Wallpaper is a material used in Bedroom Decorating which comes in many different styles and designs.
Choosing Wallpaper
Wallpaper can be thick or thin, embossed or completely flat and plain. There is wallpaper that is used for different walls and wallpaper that is used purely for cosmetic reasons.
The following information describes some popular wallpaper choices for bedroom decorating.
- Anaglypta is a white thick wallpaper which comes with an embossed pattern on it. Anaglypta wallpaper can be painted easily with emulsion or any Resin Based Paint. Anaglypta wallpaper is an ideal bedroom decorating covering for walls that are bumpy or uneven walls.
- Flock Wallpaper has a fine embossed surface which is glued to a backing paper. Flock Wallpaper often gives a velvet texture and it is very rich in colour and is more expensive. Flock Wallpaper is a difficult wallpaper to put up as any Wallpaper Adhesive that comes into contact with the front will ruin it. If Flock Wallpaper is stained, it can be sponged carefully.
- Foil Wallpaper has a metallic film on the back of the paper. Foil Wallpaper is suitable for darker areas because the shiny surface helps to reflect light. Foil Wallpaper is a tough wallpaper available in a wide selection of fine textures and many colours and can be wiped clean.
- Lining paper is a basic paper for backing onto a wall before the proper paper gets hung on top of it. Lining paper can have other uses such as being pasted to a wall then painted over; this can be a cheaper alternative and a great idea if you plan to create a feature wall.
- Printed Wallpaper is often a reasonably priced machine made paper with numerous amounts of designs and colours available. Hand Printed Wallpaper is available more costly to make. Printed Wallpaper is not as tough as the machined variety. Printed Wallpaper can tear easily when wet and the colours are not fast. Printed Wallpaper can be lightly wiped if stained but cannot be washed, making Printed Wallpaper unsuitable for busy areas. Delicate patterns are more awkward to match. If they are hand made designs the accuracy in the design will be uneven compared to a machine made print.
Bedroom Decorating with Wallpaper
When bedroom decorating from scratch a good way to start is to strip all the walls. Then cover the floor if you're not replacing the carpet with plastic sheets and cover the windows with newspaper and tape.
Paint your ceiling in what ever colour your looking for. Keep in my mind light colours make your room look bigger and dark colours make you feel like it is smaller.
After you have painted the ceiling you go to paint your skirting boards and any wood work you want to go over.
After you have finished all of the painting the next project would be to smooth any uneven walls over and fill any cracks with poly filler or plaster.
Then start with the wallpaper or maybe you might want to paint the walls in which case you may want to have 3 walls in white with a feature wall.
For example you may want to add a shade of colour to a wall to attract people eyes to it and whatever furnishings you have put on it.
